New Chapter Treasurer Needed
After 26 years of dedicated service, COL(R) Charley Grundy retired in June. We need a volunteer to take on this critical job. Although someone with CPA or bookkeeping experience would be great, the position does not require that level of experience. It’s just a matter of keeping a ledger, managing the deposits/checks written, and preparing an annual report for AUSA National. If you are interested, please contact President David Sousa.

Veterans Road Show 2022
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services is hosting the first 2022 Veterans Road Show this summer and fall. Over the next few months, they will be hosting a series of Veteran Resource Fairs across Nevada: Upcoming fairs in our area are:

Saturday, August 6th in Gardnerville from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Douglas County Senior Center.
Saturday, August 13th in Fallon from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fallon Convention Center (next to Western Nevada College).

The Association of the U.S. Army is launching a Welcome Back Campaign to celebrate being back together again, usher in new and returning members and mark the end of a difficult period coping with COVID-19. The campaign features lower membership rates and other specials. Reduced membership costs will continue through Oct. 31, 2022. “It has been a difficult past 18 months for all of us; our members, soldiers, civilians, retirees and family members across AUSA and the Army,” said retired Brig. Gen. Jack Haley, who on July 1 became AUSA’s vice president for membership and meetings. “As we come out of this pandemic, AUSA wants to recognize the hardships endured and look to a promising future by extending a hand to all of our members and welcome you back.”Haley added he’s “really excited” to be joining the AUSA team on the same day as the campaign’s launch. The Welcome Back Campaign offers discounts across the board—for new members, renewing members and those who wish to extend their current membership.

The General Westmoreland Chapter consists of Reno area AUSA members who support our brave soldiers and represent their interests here in Northern Nevada.
